Physical Fitness Test
The body gate. Four forces, four standards. Train it like the written rounds.
See the factsWhat this assessment actually is.
The Physical Fitness Test is the body's counterpart to the CRE. It guards the disciplined services — Police, Immigration, Customs, Fire Services. Each force sets its own events and its own pass marks. The body must clear the bar on the day it is scheduled, not the week before, not the week after. Below, the four procedures, listed separately, with the exact standards each force publishes.
Four forces. Four standards.
Each disciplined service sets its own events and pass marks. They are listed separately below — exactly as each force publishes them.
Hong Kong Police Force
Pass all four items. Separate standards for men and women.
| Item | Men | Women |
|---|---|---|
| 4 × 10m Shuttle Run | ≤ 10.92 sec | ≤ 12.29 sec |
| Push-up (30 sec) | ≥ 13 reps | ≥ 9 reps |
| Vertical Jump | ≥ 49.6 cm | ≥ 36.6 cm |
| 800m Run | ≤ 3 min 11 sec | ≤ 4 min 29 sec |
Immigration Department
Five items, each scored 0–5. A minimum points total is required to pass.
Customs & Excise Department
Score at least 1 point in each item AND a total of 12 points or more across the four items. The same scale applies to men and women.
Fire Services Department
Pass BOTH the Physical Fitness Test (8 items) AND the Job-related Performance Test (4 items), in sequence. A fail in the fitness test ends the day — no job-related test follows.

What candidates overlook.
- Treat it as a four-month training cycle, not a one-month sprint. The forces publish this guidance themselves.
- Confirm the event list and pass thresholds on the recruiting force's official page before you train — the standards are revised.
- Schedule the fitness test before booking the interview mocks. A fitness fail closes the door regardless of how well you speak.
